Where to download the motec plugin and how to use it ?

to use motec with rfactor, u have to install this plugin

Basic setting is in the DataAcquisitionPlugin.ini in the rfactor main directory (available after plugin is installed). Open the file and check out these lines :

Activation Toggle Key="m" ; Single printable character, as "x", or Virtual Key Code in hexadecimal, as 0xNN = (set the activation ke when ure in the cockpit)
Log File Output Path="UserData\LOG\MoTeC" ; MoTeC log files will be written here (set the path where the log file is being saved)




If u dont have motec software (not all version will work with the plugin....only this one is known to work with it.) u can get it here

Once u run some laps and have them logged, u can run motec and go to File>Project>New Project. Select 'Circuit' as the type and prompt where u want to save ur project file.

Then when u see the empty graphs and all, goto File>Open Log Files and go to the location where ur laps log files are saved (check DataAcquisitionPlugin.ini log file output path). Then u'll be presented with most of the information abt ur laps ran.

LOL....i'll post how i do it here but i wont consider it as teaching u guys. I'll call it sharing. Im sure most of u guys here (especially the ohtais like PCcrazy, SIC bigwig like anton and real life racers like Hisham) are well versed in setting up cars or at least the proper method to do it. Just to name a few.

Oit....me no use Motec ler because when DAQplug-in is enable, monitor straight away hangs.... :lol:

My method is kira old school, barbaric and pathetic...

For gear ratio, I calculate by setting up the right amount of ratio needed for 1st gear when downshifting into a corner....Avoiding sudden wheel lock or too low rpm drop....

For ride height, I will use the replay button and press the Home or End keys to switch to the side view of the car...once sparks coming out just around 4th gear, then my car is too low....if no sparks until 7th gear, means ride height (or packers sumtimes) can still be reduce...

Cooling, I will run around 30 consecutive laps using high boost and return to the monitor to see the average temp of the water and oil...If around 127c above for the water, I notch up the rad 1 step bigger...

Motec is a really powerful software not only for teaching new boys how to drive but it's also for old timers to tune up their cars to perfection. It's so complicated and to decipher the information would take huge amount of time.

usually i experience by 50% tyres lost grip already...very very hard to drive and it happen almost suddenly. Nice motec layout anton....otai real life racing la katakan....
