I found this....and still learning the first one....its hard lah...

XR GT in blackwood....i can drift abit la...not totally sideways. But the prob with XR GT is dat its too slow :(. Not enough speed to make a nice drift...imho.



I think its the FFB. My main prob is i cant tell when the tail is starting to move away thus i cant decide the correct moment to e-brake and counter steer.

im not a sifoo unlike tydus and those DCM LFS drifters.

do u have any specific setup to drift that UNDERPOWER XRG bro?

the theory is, to drift XRG at blackwood is by taking out as much grip as u can from the rear tyre. by all means, all the knowledge about the car suspension, camber, stiffness bla2 that u have use them in the OPPOSITE WAY than the one u use to tune up ur car for MSR Racing.

1. u start by putting in more pressure to the rear tyre as this will reduce grip and makes the tyre hot quicker thus, the longer u stay on track the less grip u will have and more smoke u can make and longer drift u can do with this little underpower engine.
2. make ur suspension stiffer and lower at the back as this will reduce the work of the suspension thus, transferring all the movement/energy/force straight to the rear tyres which obviously cant handle it end up u will tend to go oversteer easier which is good for drifting.
3. the gear ratio plays important role too. instead of setting the gear ratio for the top speed of 180-190kmh, u make it just enough to touch 150-160kmh at top gear with full throttle. so, by doing this u will ALWAYS maintain the RPM 4.5k and above around the corner. u see, 4.5k or 5k and above is enough to produce quite amount of tourque to make the wheel spin in XRG.

*i tried to attach the setup file. but i couldnt do so :P

so, the technique to drift.
1. start by handbraking
2. start by clutch kicking
3. start by feint drifting(feinto durifto)

the feinto durifto,
there's some corner that is suitable to use this technique.
1. the first U-Turn corner
2. the corner AFTER the straight line
3. the third last corner, the ones when u're going down the hill (assume u use blackwood not blackwood reverse)

normally feint drifting the will just throw the car in the opposite way and then quickly turn the car into the corner direction to get more momentum. but since this XRG is quite underpower, that wont help much either. so, u throw the car out ONTO the grass and turn the car back in and start drifting with 2 rear tyres while still on the grass and full throttle all the way. dun get it? its ok. i will post the screenshot and video later on

i will post the screenshot and replay in SPR format for u bro later on.

for start, just practice in the first corner, the one after the straight line and the one when u're coming down the hill (the third last corner).

-Im still cant get used to turning wheels dat much. so used to momo and i dont turn that much lock that fast in my real car anyways. So im practicing on it.

-Is there a way to tweak the ffb coz i cant feel that im losing the back. Maybe its the setup. Ive tried few setups downloaded but still doesnt work. Or isit justme. But im not feeling the difference. I load thesetup my selecting it in the garage. is that all?

-Yup...its very hard to drift in the first turn...make dat turn 2 and 3 as well. I lost too much speed after turning in even at full throttle. Even in top rpm. Maybe my steering angle is totally wrong.

I get wut u mean by clipping the grass. I do that alot in iRacing. Somehow the ffb is very accurate and responsive dats y i can catch the rear slipping and play with the throttle.

one more thing bro mara. i suggest u drift in the backward direction. since the DEMO LFS nowadays only provide blackwood and not blackwood reverse like what i had in 05 where i was a DEMO user for 3 months be4 bought S2 :(. so, in other word u wil have to go in the wrong direction lah :lol:.

going backward gives a few advantage tho. and FUN too. hehe.

yea i agree its pretty hard to hold nice long drift on a xrg car. but nevermind, get to hang of it first. try to familiarize with the car and try to get every corner drifted. put the drifting line off-account at this learning stage.

oh btw, are u using the latest patch? sadly the latest patch of lfs wont allow u to use xrt. use the earlier patch instead as xrt car are free to use.

the xrt car (favorite drift car all time) had more than enough the power to hold big and long drifts. as for me, it is good to practise on a slower car though cus u dont have to do much throttle controll while u are drfting. simply slam the gas lol. oh, i heard of u had a phobia slamming the gas when the backends of the car starts to step out on you. is that true? hehe. thats the contrary betwen drift and grip. once u loose the rear, the more u slam the gas.

those days when im in the learning curve, i tend to use only these tecchnique thats is clutch kick and power-over (those days xrg were lighter and more power). once you get to used these two things, then the rest of the techniques will be self implemented though it will takes time.

er.. u cant tell the rear starting to move away? means u are not getting as much input from ffb as u expected? if that so, try my configuration.

wheel profiler:

- disable combined axis
- enable force feedback
- overall effects strength = 101%
- spring effect strength = 0%
- damper effect strength = 0%
- enable centering spring/centering spring strength = 0%

ingame settings:

wheel turn = 270%
wheel turn compensation = 0.00
force strength = 30%
*will update u later when i get to kl. forgot already.. lol.

tho i use momo, the settings may be different. but atleast ull get the idea.

Is it possible to use a momo for drifting ? I imagine that without clutch it's probably not as fun and maybe more difficult, isn't it ?

rally technique how ah bro? AFAIK, to do 4WD powerslide around the corner u have to full throttle while in drifting we do have full throttle but when we r about to oversteer too much we will do 'throttle tapping' to gain a bit of grip without killing the drift or apply handbrake to break the traction while entering the corner. once u reduce the throtle with 4WD powersliding, u will straight away gain back the grip. betul ke ni? hihihi...as i said, im not a sifoo :lol:

well, we drifter will always say 'DRIFTING IS FUN!' right tydus? it's true that without clutch pedal u will have to assign to button configuration instead. and with less turning radius the MOMO has, it's not helping either. but, the more u drift/try to drift, u will get more and more experience thus, u will enjoy drifting instead.
