as some may already know...I've changed my monitor to 24" with 16:9 ratio. Set up nicely thanks to PC last weekend and was running @ 1366*768 without lag. But I changed the cable to DVI yesterday and the rfactor settings automatically reset...the 1366*768 option is gone and I can only now either run on 1920*1080 (which is too much & gives me lag) or 1280*1024 (which is actually 5:4 ratio, can't see the track well).

So...should I keep using DVI or switch back to VGA cable?

From wut i know, cable type shouldnt affect ur resolution. Its just different signal something. I think ur GC reseted. And all u need to do is go back to rFactor Config and choose 1366 res (should be available in the drop down menu list).

try and delete the config file in the rFactor root folder, then run rfactor.exe to let the resolution box come out again... :(

when I started the game this evening, the setup box appeared on its own...noticed it was on 800*600 so I wanted to put back to 1366...but the option is completely GONE +_+

will deleting this config file affect anything else...

edit: just tried it...same thing. 1366 option really disappeared. I guess I'll have to go back to VGA. Anyone using DVI here...what real benefits are there with DVI? Prolong LCD lifetime?

find the closest to 1366....it think becoz of the ratio effect thats why 1366 is no more available.

dunno...its there any 'real' benefits??all it does is send the signal....in a different manner... :(

btw mebbe its because of your new monitor's 16:9 ratio. 1366*768 is probably not supported except for 16:10 or 16:8 :lol:

according to wiki...1360*768 is 16:9 ratio. How can it not accept 16:9 radio resolutions when it is after all a 16:9 ratio monitor =.=

anyway I switched back to the VGA cable last night (real late) and I got back the resolution. Just read somewhere that DVI cable don't allow flexibility in resolution settings, some even say its fixed but mine could change a bit...so...

Vga bandwith less than DVi/HDMI
HDMI/DVI faster transfer

slight color loss, if u watching HD movie la, dunno bout gaming.
try use HDMI port,if available, bcoz vga only support 1360X768, just like LCD TV.cant change the resolution.

*i'm searching new LCD which support any resolution at 100Hz.

VGA I dont think they have bandwith term to it since they are analog in nature. Only DVI and HDMI which are digital in nature (bits 0 and 1) have bandwith. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Analog signal can be disturbed and may not reproduce what it really should.

Anyway, I dont think normal eyes can detect the differences between both.

eh...according to Dell website, mine's 16:9 Dynamic Aspect Ratio - http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/products/p...;l=en&s=dhs

they say normal untrained eyes cannot see the difference after 25Hz...

Possibly it's the graphics card not supporting the format under dvi option. Well as I say before larger screen comes at a price. :P

shouldnt be any difference between VGA and cable for the resolution part. I think its ur graphic card limitation. They were not ready back then for a wide screen 24 inchers when they make ur 7300gt.
