The dust had settled in Rattlesnake Point and few drivers have finally spoken about the race.
Zul Race comment:
What a start of the season!!! i'm really having fun last nite since all the patience n practice that i've learn from last season has paid me well..the first podium that i've achieve in MSR..
start of the race was quite normal, manage to jump several cars on the start n having a go on anton before the lap ends..after that having a duel with hafiz..a bit tough since his weaving@connection problems make it hard for me to plan a clean move..lucky he make a mistake n give me room to complete the move..after that muaz hunting me for several laps n he manage to outfox me..
for several laps before pitting..just driving a relax race since no one attacking n clearly my pace is on par with muaz..but the action starts after pitting where i need to overtake evohanh..that was one of the best overtaking n i have to give my utter respect to him....
anyway,a good race n i'm looking forward for our next race!!! zul Jaguar Racing Team Arnaud I'm quite happy with last night feature race, not so much for the sprint race.
Sprint race
When overtaking hafiz, I missed my braking point and hit him as I am in the inside of the corner, sending him off track. Sorry Hafiz. Although for my defense, I'm not sure if it is because of your connection (I saw very high pings around 400) or because you were driving aggressively, but I saw your car do a lot of weaving on the road.
I also slightly hit Bonn later during an overtaking, although when I watched the replay, I don't think it is my fault. I was trying to overtake and saw I was too short for a clean overtake at the end of the straight. I was in the inside line and was "on time" for my braking. In my mind it was clear I was behind and actually wanted to let you pass in the corner. But then you suddenly change your line right before the corner. You put your car right in front of me and since you were slightly slower and I was already max on the brakes, I can't do anything but bump into you.
Feature race
I'm quite happy with my 4th place P2. I started in a good position on the grid but unfortunately a car spun out in front of me during 2nd lap (kamal, I think). I hit it, it made me spin and since all the cars were following each others, I don't have any other choice than waiting that all the pack passes me before to turn around and continue the race. I've been kind of lucky though as the damage didn't really affect the car behavior although the crash was at high speed.
The rest of the race was quite good except for 2 or 3 spins. My 1 stop strategy worked quite well, although I was a little short on fuel for the first stint, as result I finished on 4 red tires. So I really had to slow down the pace for the last 4-5 laps.
I had 1 or 2 great fights, particularly with Antonio at the beginning. But I am not sure why, it seems like you left me pass after a while ? Why is that ? Antonio [Post Race Comments]
I've been looking forward to the start of this new season as I had enjoyed the previous season driving in simulated F1 cars around 17 circuits in which I have mixed feelings about them. Although I started competitively racing simulation on a GT series, these type of car isn't really what suits me as my sim experience started with Grand Prix by Geoff Crammond, which were basically F1 cars. Nevertheless, I tried to adapt to the change of handling and dynamics of these GT type cars when the Admin announced that the Endurance mod by Team Endurancers would be the mod to race this season. Although the P2 and P1 type cars have some similarities with an F1 car, I need to really dig deep as my brake-turn-floor type of driving needs to be refine in this season.
In qualifying I didn't had a good start of the season, and to be honest, I think I'd scored the title of being the first to retire and probably the quickest this season, not the kind of title that you hope for. My engine let go right around 3rd gear at the start which made me barely crawling into the first corner. Anxiousness would be the reason as I rev'd the engine so hard during the launch while the lights was ticking on the far left of me. I even made a jump which I managed to back off a couple of milliseconds later.

During the feature, my start surprisingly was good as I managed to jumped AzrinK, muaz, Piji, Kenny, evoHahn, RonMD and bonn2020 to take 8th and by the 2nd lap I was 5th as I managed to pass arnaud and kamal90. However, I was definitely going to be pass by P1 cars as my top speed was only 270.9km/h at the straight, thanks to a miscount of the gear ratio prior to the race, which had happened inevitably. I had to stabilize my pace and didn't put much of fight when P1 cars sweeps by me like I wasn't flooring the pedal. It was disappointing and gutted but I had to live with it as there are 1 hour and 25 minutes left in the race. Steadily I was passed by Muaz and evoHann and the next man behind was arnaud, which had me on lap 8, due to my misjudged braking.
Thanks to my strategy I was able to jump the field and ended up as high as 3rd during the race and was scheduled to stop one lap after Muaz had done his pitstop, which eventually had taken 3rd back. "Looks like I'm going to finish in the top 5, no more pitstop and no more nights (which weren't the case as a shard of night came to effect once again "huh?")", my mind fiddles with my concentration and on lap 32, disaster happen when I ran into bonn2020 which had spun erratically on the track and I was traveling quite at high speed, damaging my front right suspension in the process. This forced me to repair my car and had lost vital track position. I had emotions running high and was letting my anger came into me. I boosted max to 4 and was driving right to the edge and managed to record my fastest lap and an off-track exploration (thanks to the emotions). I finally settled down right after the excursion and lower my boost down and keeping my driving in check.
Overall an exciting start to the season and I hope the next race would be better for me. Congrats to all the podium finishers and my heart goes out to Mara as he DC'ed while leading the pack at lap 31, as I had a few experience myself previously. |
